Love this style of blanket—great for picnics
These are great – folds up easily into a “bag” (at least has a pocket) which is useful as a pillow or cushion, and then all spread out it provides a reasonably soft upper surface and very durable lower surface with cushion. Great for park and sports outings, or just to keep in the car for spontaneous use!

Great picnic blanket. Easy to use. Folds back into itself I really like that there is a pocket in the side once it’s folded. Makes it easier to carry all the things. Color is pretty as well and material is easy to clean!

Necessity for summer!

Picnic Blanket – Cushy and Portable Outdoor Mat
This High Stream Gear picnic blanket in red is a winner for outdoor adventures. It’s larger and thicker than standard blankets, offering a bit of cushioning while staying lightweight. I’ve used it for picnics and camping, and it holds up well. The fold-up design with a zippered bag, shoulder strap, and external pocket is super convenient. My only gripe is it could be a tad more durable for rough terrain, but for casual outings, it’s fantastic.

Versitle
Being a backpacker I really like it when I find items that can be used multiple ways.
This High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket is a winner.
The black back side appears to me it is made of nylon. The red patterned side does have a slightly different feel from from the black side.
The construction makes it look like it has a sown quilt pattern. It is not actually sown. It looks to be melted together front to back at these points. It does make a nice looking pattern on the blanket.
I put my thumb on one side and my middle and index finger on the other and moved them back in forth with some force. These melted seems are strong and should hold together for outdoor adventures.
The sowing that is on the blanket for the edging / zipper / handles all appear to clean and sufficient.
It has a small handle to carry it in the zipped configuration, or adjustable shoulder straps for carrying it in the tote configuration.
When I first unzipped the top of the bag to make the tote configuration, I was worried not much would fit into the tote. A lot of the space is occupied by the remaining fabric of the blanket. Much to my surprise, for 2 people going to the beach or on a picnic, it was able to carry what we needed.
Took the High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket on a few adventures. Here’s how they went.
My wife and I haven’t taken a large blanket to the beach for years. We just take chairs to sit on the beach. Sometimes we thought it would be nice to have a blanket if we wanted to nap, we could lay down for a snooze.
What I do remember is when we did take a blanket, we took a large Mexican Beach Blanket. It was soft, breathable so the wind did not blow it around too much, but it would take days to get all the sand out.
The High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket shed all the sand off when we shook it out before zipping it back into a tote. This was so much better then the other blanket we used years ago.
The downside to the High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket is it has such a tight weave, it’s basically a kite in the wind at the beach. I placed our shoes on the corners of the blanket. The wind was getting under the blanket and still moving it the blanket around.
It took me a moment to try something. The side the wind was coming from I dug a small ditch. I had the edge of the blanket slope down the ditch. I then piled up the sand on the other side of the ditch, basically making a ramp that the wind would deflect up and over the blanket. Once the wind was not able to get under the blanket it worked perfectly.
We also took it on a picnic. After unloading our food and drinks, we used it as a table cloth.
I tested out the High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket as a sleeping blanket. I used it for about an hour nap. I found it to be soft and comfortable and could easily be used this way.
This can have other uses which I have not tested it out for yet. Bleacher seat pad. Could it work as a Bivy sack?
The High Stream Gear – Tote / blanket with all of it’s possibilities will be a piece of gear that will travel with me in my car trunk.
